So, I've been killing these things for awhile now. Normally it's not something I'd think to write about, but I came across one that was so stupid that writing is the only way I can vent my frustrations.
I decided to buy the ever so cheap NS-BRDVD3 bluray player. In nearly every way it's exactly what I expected, blue lights and all. So I decide that I'm tired of getting blined by the subliminal k-mart advertising and proceded to 'fix' this thing.
Here we have a nice pretty image of it powered off. Look at the pretty blue light, just waiting to blind me when I turn the lights down and watch anything other than a bluray on this pile.
Oh, and here we have it powered on. So now when I watch something I not only have to deal with the annoying white digital display I get a k-mart sale telling me that this is indeed a bluray player.... just in case I forgot.
So now lets get down to fixing this thing. Well it's really simple. You unplug that, and you flip those 2 pins. Did you want step by instructions or something? If you need those you shouldn't be opening up your bluray player.
Here's a closer shot of the board that contains the power switch and the power LED. Yep you just flip those two pins. Yep, you guess it. It comes with a two color LED.... but it only uses the blue.
Here's the plug you disconnect to turn off the blinding reminder that you indeed purchased a bluray player.
When we're all done here's the result. I nice, non-blinding, red LED.
